Dr. Jim Turpel, DVM
Orthopedic Surgeon
I have been performing orthopedic and complex soft tissue surgeries since first graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1993.
My involvement in many of my “early” surgical cases was borne out of necessity since there were very limited options for owners in the Niagara Region if their pet developed a serious surgical condition. However, after performing a number of these complex surgeries with excellent success, and witnessing the relief, joy and gratitude expressed by clients and pets alike my future course as a veterinarian was forever changed. I realized surgery was my calling and have dedicated tremendous time, energy and resources into developing my surgical skills. Through these efforts our hospital has developed a reputation among clients and fellow veterinarians that has resulted in the creation of the Upper Canada Animal Hospital Surgical Referral Service. This service sees us routinely helping seriously injured pets from throughout Ontario and upstate New York return to their normal, lovable, energetic selves. With thousands of orthopedic, and far more soft tissue, surgeries under my belt I feel very comfortable dealing with a myriad of conditions that can plague our pets.
